Brothers of the Alpha Tau Chapter partnered with the local nonprofit organization Mind Changers to spread holiday cheer to more than 120 children across the Tuscaloosa community through a Christmas toy giveaway.
The collaborative effort brought together fraternity brothers and community leaders committed to service and youth engagement. The initiative was led in part by Brother D. Black, Alpha Tau ’22, alongside Brother Rodney Pelt, Rho Gamma ’22, CEO of Mind Changers, whose organization continues to make a meaningful impact by supporting and uplifting local youth and families.
With the support of the Beta Eta Chapter from The University of Alabama, brothers worked together to distribute toys and engage with families, ensuring that each child felt seen, valued, and celebrated. For many of the children, the event provided more than just gifts. It delivered moments of joy, excitement, and hope that helped make their Christmas season brighter and more memorable.
“Giving back during the holiday season is especially important because it reminds us of our responsibility to serve others and strengthen our community,” said Brother Rodney Pelt. “Being able to bring smiles to these children and help make their Christmas special is what this work is all about.”
Through this partnership, Alpha Tau and Mind Changers demonstrated the power of collaboration and service, reinforcing a shared commitment to uplifting the Tuscaloosa community and helping ensure that local children could experience the warmth and joy that define the holiday season.
